“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth; anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

 

DAISIES

Because of this flowers’ sweet simplicity it has become the symbol for innocence.

BULRUSH

Symbolizes those who abide by the teaching of the church. It is reminiscent of the infant Moses and represents the just who dwell on the banks of the waters of grace.

LAMB

Is the symbol of Christ. The baby lamb also is a symbol of the infant St. John and alludes to the child’s mission as a forerunner of Christ.

PALM

A symbol for the triumphant entry into Jerusalem and the triumph over sin and death.

NEST

A safe habitat where the young may be nourished regularly in the faith of Our Lord

ALMOND

Symbol of divine approval and favor. This tree is one of the first to bloom in the spring thus represents the promise of renewed life.

WATER

Is a symbol for purity and innocence.

PELICAN

This bird has the greatest love of all creatures for its offspring. According to legend, it will pierce its breast to feed them with its own blood. It is on the basis of this legend that the pelican came to symbolize Christ’s sacrifice of the Cross because of His love for God’s children.

CHILDREN

Are given and blessed by God as the hope for humankind.

Jesus took the children in His arms and blessed them bestowing goodwill and special favor.
