St. Francis' parishioners contribute to the Wood Street Chapel
Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is a simple Christian outreach program, not
affiliated with any larger organization. An entirely volunteer staff
collects non-perishable food and sundries, sorts them into appropriate
packages, and distributes packages once a month. Food Pantry distributions
take place in the Wood Street Chapel parking lot on the morning of the third
Saturday of each month. This timing gets the most out of limited resources,
reaching families at a time when food from other sources has been exhausted.
The monthly distributions go to about 50 families, perhaps 120-odd people in
all.
